FieldInsight Update: Small Changes + More

FieldInsight’s field service management software gets better every week. Here’s what the team shipped in Week 33 of 2026 (released 10 August 2026) — real, ready-to-use features for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and maintenance businesses.

SMS History Now Linked to Customers

What’s new

  • SMS messages sent from FieldInsight are now logged against the specific customer record, just like emails already were.

Why it helps

You get a complete communication history in one place, so anyone in the office can see exactly what texts were sent to a customer without having to dig through separate logs.

Miscellaneous Improvements

What’s new

  • Auto-Populate Site on Documents created from Project
    • When you create a sales document (invoice, quote, purchase order, etc.) directly from a project, the site assigned to that project is now automatically filled on the new document.
    • How it Helps:  Remove manually selecting the site every time you raise an invoice or document from a project — it saves keystrokes and eliminates the risk of choosing the wrong site.
  • Supplier Credit Note Buttons Re-located
    • The action buttons for supplier credit notes have been moved into the Supplier Credit Notes section on purchase orders, where they logically belong.
    • How it Helps:  Accounts staff no longer need to hunt for credit note actions — they’re right where you’d expect them, streamlining your purchase order workflow.
  • Portfolio Change Resets Dependent on Asset Fields
    • When you change the portfolio field on an asset, the asset type category, asset type, and asset model fields now automatically reset so you can re-select the correct values.
    • How it Helps:
    • When you change the portfolio field on an asset, the asset type category, asset type, and asset model fields now automatically reset so you can re-select the correct values.
  • Last Service Date for QR Codes
    • Printed asset QR codes now include a “Last Service Date” placeholder, showing when the asset was last attended to.
    • How it Helps:  Technicians scanning a QR code on site can immediately see when the asset was last serviced, helping them make better decisions without opening the full record.
  • CSV Import Validation Notification
    • CSV imports now display a clear validation error message when a column name exceeds the allowed length, instead of failing silently
    • How it Helps:  You’ll know exactly what to fix in your spreadsheet before re-uploading, saving time on data imports.
  • API changes
    • Business name added to Public API
    • How it Helps:  Businesses using third-party integrations that pull site data from FieldInsight can now access the business name directly, reducing manual data entry in connected systems.
